FAQ

Questions? We are here to help.

What are PPAs?

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) are contracts commonly used in the energy industry. They involve a buyer, often a company or organization, agreeing to purchase electricity from a specific source, like a solar or wind farm, at a predetermined price over a set period. PPAs enable buyers to secure a stable and often cost-effective supply of renewable energy while supporting clean energy generation.

What are RECs?

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are like "green stamps" for clean energy. When a renewable energy source generates electricity (e.g., solar or wind), it also creates RECs to represent the environmental benefits of that clean power. Organizations or individuals can purchase RECs to support and claim the environmental attributes of renewable energy, even if they're not directly using it. It's a way to promote and account for green energy without needing to install renewable systems on-site.

What is EV charging?

The process of powering up electric cars at special charging stations. EV owners plug their vehicles into these stations to recharge the battery, similar to how conventional vehicles refuel at gas stations. Charging can take place at various speeds, with options for fast charging or standard charging, depending on the charger type and the car's capabilities. EV charging is essential for keeping electric vehicles running and reducing reliance on fossil fuels for transportation.

Does solar need to be onsite?

Solar energy doesn't always need to be generated onsite. While it's common to have solar panels installed directly on rooftops or properties (onsite solar), there's also the option of offsite solar. Offsite solar refers to solar farms or installations located elsewhere, often owned by a third party.

How can you offset carbon?

You can offset carbon emissions by investing in activities or projects that reduce an equivalent amount of greenhouse gas emissions elsewhere. These actions are often referred to as carbon offsetting. It can include supporting initiatives like reforestation, renewable energy projects, or methane capture from landfills.

How do government incentives work?

Government incentives for sustainability and business typically involve providing financial or regulatory benefits to encourage companies to adopt environmentally friendly practices, such as tax breaks for investing in renewable energy or grants for implementing eco-friendly technologies.
